Jon McGee is a contemporary printmaker and multi-media artist living and working in Lexington, Kentucky. He will graduate from Eastern Kentucky University from the School of Art & Design in the fall of 2022 with a B.S. in Studio Art. Jon plays drums and guitar, working with several ensembles as a recording artist and performer. Lifelong interests in art history, philosophy, politics, musical improvisation, and film – with a particular affinity for Dadaist artwork and poetry – inform the content of his work. The diversity of these multidisciplinary influences produces images which prominently feature written text, poems, and other word play, and can be characterized as eclectic and improvisational. His artwork uses traditional silk-screen and stamp-printing techniques, frequently combined with print-transfer, 3D printing, and digital media applications.
